One big thing you need to be aware of is that the AE-1 uses the excellent, but totally incompatible FD lenses. The won't work with any of your Canon DSLR bodies. If you want a fulm Canon, look for any of the EOS series. There were 3 versions of the F-1, referred to as the F-1, F-1n, and F-1N (ew), and they came out in 1971, 1976 and 1981 if memory serves me.
